Backwards playback with K and J

I must be doing somthing wrong because when I use K and tap J, or hold the J down, my timeline plays normal speed backwards. I cannot get it to go slow backwards or one frame at a time,
It workd just fine forwards by using K and L
Anyone who can help would be appreciated

You might try trashing prefs. Seems to be working correctly here. I usually just use the left and right arrows. Maybe you've assigned them to something else.

Trashing the preferences did the trick.
Thank you
