Since upgrading to 10.4.2, the DVD image creation is failing. I creating a DVD image just a couple of weeks ago using 10.4.1.
Is it a coincidence that is now failing? Error Message is something like"Disc Creation Failed". It gets to about 65% before taking a dive.
Instead I was able to successfully use Compressor (version 4.4.1) to complete the task.
[UPDATE] I had mixed success with Compressor. Finally nailed that I had to set the image as "Single Layer" for the output to successfully complete. When set to automatic it failed.

Hi Boderick, Welcome to the forums
This is a known issue that has been going on for years. In essence what is happening is that writing to optical disc utilizes very old 32bit code (last updated around 2009) and it is at 66% where the Mac is switching between creating and writing the file. There may also be issues with RAM availability.
The work around is to separate the creation of the file from the "burning" of the disc. Instead of directly burning to your optical disc in FCPX, set the location to your desktop or a folder instead of the DVD. Let the Mac export there, then burn the image created. It can also help to quit applications prior to burning and even restarting the Mac between operations as this free up RAM and avoids page swaps while burning the file.
One additional benefit to saving the file to the computer is that you can then "burn" additional discs at anytime without having to open FCPX and export (share) from within the program. You can also use other apps like Toast Titanium to burn multiple copies quicker than from FCPX or even the Finder.
You can "burn" the disc in Finder by right (control) clicking on the file icon and choosing to burn the disc to your DVD burner.

Hope this Helps, Greg
