individual track heights and V1, V2 and A1, A2.. flagging and coloring clips?

Folks,
some very basic questions related to the timeline interface :
In various NLEs, there are ways to change heights of each individual track. is this not possible in FCP X?
also, in the timeline view, is it possible to show V1, V2, etc and A1, A2 on the left hand side of the timeline? i find it a good way to know how many tracks there are in my timeline. this used to be standard in FCP 7 and earlier.
is it possible to flag clips or to give them a different color so they are easy to spot?
there seems to be 'wasted' space on the timeline (regardless of the way clips are displayed). that is, clips don't seem to be butt against each other vertically. is there a way to undo this?
i know these are probably very naive questions but i've come back to editing after a while and am used to a certain interface.
thanks, sanjay

Ah, you're trying for force FCPX to be track based, and it's not. You actually save tons of real estate with FCPX over tracks. Learn the Timeline interface better. Forget everything you ever knew in other NLEs, including legacy FCP. This is a totally new way of working. "V1, V2 etc" have zero meaning now. Don't force it to go backwards.
You can assign Role colors.

You can adjust clip appeared in the Timeline.

Yeah, back up, relax, you're learning how to edit in a whole better way, no tracks, forget tracks. Learn to expand and collapse audio content of video clips. Learn the keyboard shortcuts to adjust clip appearances (hight, etc). Learn how to zoom in/out. It's faster, it's easier. Highly recommend either Ripple Training or macProVideo for tutorials.
