FCP 10.4 removes 3/4 of images

I recently upgraded to FCP 10.4 and it generally works fine but any jpegs I layer on top of video or just play at the start ie: a copyright message FCP removes three quarters of the picture? I have found no forums anywhere with anyone with this problem.

Please see attached screenshot, I have tried pressing cm and alt in order to remove preferences. I have had to bin a large project because of this also. How do I fix this?

Nothing to see.
Please follow my advice:

See what I mean? This happens randomly. This picture is a disclaimer before the video starts but I also had screen grabs of youtube comments I was layering over video. It would also cut off 50% of the pics.
