Real Estate, hospitably and gaming industries will thrive on 360 as they have for some time now. But it's not much use to the rest of us doing narrative work, telling stories. The few examples I've seen so far, IMHO, don't work well for story telling.

I think Apple would have skipped the 360 thing totally if they hadn't hired Tim Dashwood, or had hired someone else who didn't already have FCPX plugins published. The later case would have seen 360 come to FCPX at a later date.

I've played with it, and even for broadcast work, just to keyframe where the viewer is looking as edits. I'm not sold that any TV station or film company will pursue it seriously.

… Real Estate, hospitably and gaming industries …

I would add sales, sports and a vague 'documentations' to that list:
Sales - 360 and VR allow 'previewing' a product, the inside of a car, commodities of a hotel, the diff. tracks of a golf course …
Sports & Docs - 360-recording would allow an extended way of re-framing; afaik, in American football, they use 4k/8k to create a wide-shot, and on replay pick the situation where the ball is; now use a 360cam … But, meanwhile outdistanced by 'virtual 360', Intel calls it freeD ……
Or, reframe a 360-recording of wildlife …

… IF you use some beast of a 360-cam with zillions of pixels …

Nice to have, very nerdy, but very niche, in my 5¢ …
