10.4 update – extending clips, blank space and splitting questions

Hey everyone,
Just got the update and man is this frustrating. About to switch to premiere because I'm so frustrated. Hoping someone can help.
EXTENDING CLIPS
I'm not able to extend clips. If I trim a clip it can not be extended. If I favorite a clip it can't be extended either.
REPLACING IN TIMELINE
When I drag a new clip into the timeline it replaces parts of clips that are already there. It just overwrites them.
ADDING BLANK SPACE
When I add a clip to the timeline it's difficult to insert it in the right place. It either adds blank space or inserts it in the middle of clips, separating them.
That's all I've noticed so far.
