Frame Rate of Orginal Footage

When I import footage from my GH4 that was shot at 96fps or from my Iphone that was shot slow-motion, the clips seem to import correctly speed wise, but the frame rate info in the metadata that is with the clips shows it at 24fps.
I thought it should read at what fps the original footage was shot .
Does this have anthing to do with import setting?

What version is this? Check the extended info inspector. In 10.4 high frame rates may appear correctly there but not at the top of the inspector. Some cameras have separate frame rates and shooting rates as well.

Hi thanks for the help. I am using 10.4. I do see in the extented inspector a" frame rate" and a "shooting rate"
the footage from the Gh4 on the "frame rate" and "shooting rate"shows as 24 even though it was shot at 96
and the footage from the iPhone is just left blank on the shooting rate.
This is not a killer problem, but if I ever retun to this footge sometime down the line, it would be helpful to know what I shot it at-- in the future I will use a slate.

Try opening the GH4 media in the QT player and see what it says in the inspector there. If it is 96 you should report the problem to feedback.

Go to List view in the Browser, add the Frame Rate column, is that correct or incorrect? Just curious.

Rings a bell. Did you use Filmic Pro or a comparable app? Because per default the standard camera app records video with variable frame rates. QT info will then show an average frame rate of 31,3 fps or any such odd number. In the past, this - for instance - made optical flow analysis in the background fail. Don't know if this has been fixed in the meantime.

I will check if (with my A6500) the shooting rate shows up correctly in extended info. There is an easy way to identify slomo shots with our cameras without that: slomo shots are 1080, normal shots 2160 (>Format >Frame Size).

BTW: how would I search for "shooting rate"? The search filter only allows for >Format >Video Frame Rate. And by this is meant the base frame rate you already chose in your camera menu. This one at least is displayed correctly, but doesn't help much.

In the Inspector/'Extended' a Shooting Rate is listed.

I wish I could filter for shooting frame rate. I have just revisited (and was forced to conform it of course) an old library, which I knew contained slomo clips. They say "25" as well for Video Frame Rate as for Shooting Rate.

Even if the shooting rate was identified correctly, it wouldn't help to see all slomo shots in the Browser. What do I miss?

If it gives 25 for the shooting rate what does it show for the frame rate?

Me?
Both, frame rate and shooting rate both tell 25fps.

But that seems to be a manufacturer/model made problem, Quicktime and, another tool, MediaHud both tell same 25/25 … which is - conc. shooting rate - on first sight wrong: it IS slowmo, shot with 100fps and in-camera 'wrapped' into 25fps-file …
Guess, some flag, atom, wotever wrong set - by Panasonic. You have to WATCH the clip to know 25 or 100fps :)

sidenote: I mostly record normal-speed/fullHD in AVCHD, those slowmo stuff is mp4 - so, easily to differ the two sorts of files, AVCHD is named 'clip123' whereas mp4 is named 'P12345' - easy to rename after import and/or filter by name …
