Adding transitions squashes my clips. How can I resolve? was created by Jimnibob
Hi,
I have added about 15 video clips to my project, which runs to about 3 minutes in length. However, when I add transitions between each of the individual video components, it compresses and shortens the video clip before and after the transition.
I have tried to edit the individual clips by highlighting them and pulling the grab handles to lengthen each video component, but it won't let me do this.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Perhaps your clips have no more handles (no more frames) to lengthen them. If there's not enough frames than FCPX will give you a popup warning of that and if you OK it it will shorten the clips. If the clips has a red edge when you try to pull it it means there are no more frames.
It might be nice though if FCPX offered an option to do a speed change because in some cases such as with B-roll, slowing down a shot to add another 6 or 12 frames doesn't create an aesthetic problem. You can slow down the shot by hand to add some more frames.
