Hey there guys,
I hope that this message finds you all in excellent spirits, and that you are having a great start to 2018.

We have a problem with Compressor 4.4: for some reason, it is not loading. We click on the icon and get as far as the loading screen. Then, within 5 seconds, the beach ball appears and...that's it. The only thing we can do is force quit.

We have tried accessing Compressor via Final Cut Pro 10.3.3's 'Send to Compressor' option. Same result.

This problem has never happened before. Any ideas on what is going wrong? Could it be a Saved Application State error? We sometimes get this with OpenOffice where we have to delete a Saved Application State file (Finder>Option>Go>Saved Application State).

If it helps, we are running macOS 10.12.6.

P.S. Just to add: we tried restarting our MacBook twice, and then shutting it down entirely and rebooting. This made no difference.

I think the next step is to delete the app completely and reload/reinstall from the App Store.

First, this should be in the Compressor forum.

Second, use "FCS Remover" (free) from Digital Rebellion (dot com) to totally remove Compressor very quickly, easily, safely.

Finally, reinstall, see what happens.

My apologies: I didn't know there was one. Will definitely post there in future on Compressor-specific issues.

Not a huge issue. But please do let us know what happens when you reinstall.

With pleasure: the solution incorporated both suggestions. We uninstalled Compressor 4.4 using FCS Remover, then we also dragged Compressor to the trash can and deleted it. Finally, we reinstalled Compressor from the App Store.

Note to anyone with the same problem: uninstalling Compressor 4.4 via the conventional Trash Can method alone may not be enough. We needed to use FCS Remover for Compressor to work again. The only difference the conventional uninstall made in the absence of FCS Remover was that we could see the Compressor interface - it was still inactive owing to beach-ballitis.

However, please be very careful when using FCS Remover. Make sure that you have only selected Compressor for deletion, and not Final Cut Pro or any other application!

Thank you so much for all your kind assistance! This is sincerely appreciated!
