Royalty free music with 5.1 ? was created by Emmanuel
Hi fellow FCPX users, happy new year to all of you !
One question: do you know if the music that you can license on the major royalty free music websites comes with 5.1 tracks ?
If not, any recommendation where I can find some ?
Thank you !

I've never seen music in any libraries that have been mixed for 5.1, let alone royalty free. Overall, ANY kind of music mixed for 5.1 is pretty rare, barring a very small number of releases for audiophiles.
HOWEVER, there are some libraries that will give you stems of a good deal of their music so that you can in fact do some limited mixing. You won't usually get stems separating every instrument, though. It will most likely be separated vocals, horns, some percussion, that sort of thing. And it varies with different tracks. The stems will most likely not be separated in a fashion where you could really go wild or make it do whatever you want, though. I wouldn't bother unless you're a musician and know what you're doing in regard to mixing 5.1 music. You have to ask yourself if you're trying to do it as a gimmick or if it's for some real effect.

Hi,
Most of the tracks in royalty free music libraries are stereo, but you can contact the composers to ask if there is any 5.1 format version. In the Musicscreen Library there is some tracks in 5.1 but you won't find them in the website, you have to ask for the surround version..
