Finding clips with a particular plug in was created by dbbc
Aloha,
Does anyone know if there is a way to find all the clip in a project with the same plugin? I have deleted the Neat plug in, because I bought another version. Now I have to go clip by clip and find out which of the clips I applied the deleted plugin.
It still shows in the inspector but does not affect the clips any longer so I have to replace it with the new one. Actually in would be nice to have another tab in the index showing effect and by selecting an effect it would show all the clips that have that plugin assign to it.

Simply use the free utility X-FX Handler -- it will tell you every clip a certain effect is on and optionally let you disable or remove that effect from those clips: www.spherico.com/filmtools/
To use:
(1) Make a project XML file: select your project, then do File>Export XML
(2) Import this XML file into X-FX Handler. Note in Finder you can drag/drop the .fcpxml file to the X-FX Handler icon in the desktop dock.
(3) Look for the effect called "Reduce Noise"
(4) Double-click on this effect and it shows you all the clips it is applied to
At this point you can (a) go to FCPX armed with the clip names and manually remove Neat Video from each one, or (b) In X-FX Handler select and remove the effect from the clips, then load that .fcpxml file into FCPX. Note there is no "edit" or File>Export menu. If you remove the effects in X-FX Handler, the underlying .fcpxml file is automatically edited.
When you load the .fcpxml file into FCPX you'll get a message about replace or keep both -- that refers to whether the original project is replaced by the XML being loaded or a new project is created. I would personally first make a snapshot backup or the original project, plus (if using a "lean library" with external media), shut down FCPX and duplicate the library bundle at the Finder level. This isn't practical if using internal media assets or internal proxies, since the library is too large. The tool is not unreliable, I'm just very cautious anytime I load XML.
