It's great when we have our SD cards come back with all one episode, but often more than one episode comes back on SD cards. This makes it more difficult for us (post-production) to isolate the clips per their episode and separate them into their appropriate show folders; especially when we don't have scripty or communication from the production team that clips 1-x are for this episode and y-(some clip number) are for that episode...etc.
Do any of you have any recommendations of tools that the production team can use that will allow us to quickly separate clips quickly in a more automated way; perhaps using metadata that FCP X can see?
Our typical workflow when cards come back is to run them through EditReady to rewrap and create custom naming for every single file (good for post, archiving, and offline searching), distribute to show folders, then import to FCP X. Would love to do all that in FCP X, but unfortunately it cannot rename files at the Finder level like it used to in FCP 7. The current method only changes the FCP X database name.
We need a faster way to identify clips rather then manually look at slates, sort by clip creation date, etc. Things are worse when episodic content on one card is not in consecutive order (ex. - clips 1-5 = ep 1, clips 6-9=ep2, clips 10-20 = ep 1).
