10.4 Export Problems was created by 12hourdrive
When exporting to MP4 or M4V in FCPX 10.4 the project is crashing and sometime even reboots my system (black screen "your computer has shut down because of a problem")
Anyone else?
I'm exporting a 1080p 4 camera Multicam timeline
2017 Macbook Pro 15'
3.1GHz

I'm running 10.13.2
I'm using the standard "apple devices 1080p" preset
And a standard "for computer" preset

Is your MBP running High Sierra? Since you are running FCPX 10.4, HS is probably the best version of macOS if you are not running that.
If macOS is crashing, this is generally not the fault of any app. You likely have a hardware or configuration problem. E.g, out of disk space, intermittently failing hardware, corrupt file system, etc.
The fact it only seems to happen when importing MP4 or M4V to FCPX 10.4 does not mean FCPX is responsible for that. E.g, if a bridge collapses when a heavy truck crosses, it's not the truck's fault. The bridge should withstand many times that load without problems. Likewise no app or series of apps should generally cause an OS crash, hang or reboot.
I'd suggest backing up all your data (just to be safe) running Disk Utility First Aid on all drives, then run Apple Diagnostics: support.apple.com/en-us/HT202731
If these find no problem that doesn't mean your machine has a clean bill of health. These are only simple "first step approaches". Incipient hardware problems can often only be found by running overnight or multi-day bench diagnostics by the Apple Genius Bar, and sometimes not even then.
If your media is on an external drive, inspect that drive, run Black Magic benchmark and make sure it's delivering the expected performance. Be certain you have plenty of free space on all hard drives, which generally means at least 20% free space.
