Hey fcp Community,

I am a new user of FCP X and my problem is, that i have several videos to edit that are no longer than 15sec-1min.

And i want to render a bunch of them over night, i there a way to render these automatically one after another?

thanks, best regards, luke

Either just export them one at. Time, all exporting happens in the background so you don’t have to wait for one to finish first.

Or use “Send to Compressor” to put them all in one batch there.

Both achieve the same results.

But you can not select multiple Projects at once and click Export once. Would be a naive feature, though. Feedback page...

One method is described in this MacBreak Studio #292. It's not simultaneous batch enqueuing, but a keyboard technique to expedite rapid sequential enqueuing of multiple projects when then run as a sequential batch in the background on FCPX.

There is also a commercial utility which automates batch exporting from FCPX. It can assign 100-200 export jobs.

You can also download the free app Commandpost . Once installed, you best drag the icon to the dock (or from wherever you use to launch your apps). When launched, the Commandpost's drop down menu will appear top right. Whilst FCP is running goto >Batchexport >Set destination preset (those are the "share"-presets that ship with FCP and the ones you created with Compressor) >Set destination folder (the exports will go there, you can create a new folder in the dialog). Select multiple clips or projects and choose >Perform batch export. You'll see the usual procedure, settings windows are opened, settings are confirmed, the render clock starts running. One by one, the finished exports appear in QT preview.

In other words: a script is run.

Commandpost has tons of extremely useful stuff. In my experience it's best to launch it in case you need a certain feature and afterwards quit it. They say, use at your own risk, but little if anything can go wrong. I made some system shortcuts for FCP, and they don't work when CP is running, right now that seems to be the only downside.

EDIT:
With FCP 7 and DVD Studio Pro I always used droplets to quickly create the Mpeg2 and AC3 files from my master. Just made a quick ProRes droplet, put it in the dock (a droplet is a small batch-export program) and tried to drag some FCP X projects to there. Doesn't work. This would be really handy. Just one tiny action to start a batch ...
