Edit while ingest

Hi!

We specialise in recording and livestreaming of all-day conferences.

Often, we end up with one massive file with all 6-10 speakers of the day and we then import and edit them in FCPX to cut them into separate videofiles for each speaker.

This workflow MUST be improved, as we spend most of a day after the conference doing this editing.

Is There a way for us to ingest directly to FCPX and edit it live?

This way, when the conference ends, we’d be almost finished with the editing, Ready for delivery to the client.

I worked with both software and and with movierecorder we recorded 8 streams with a new MacPro all presentations for FCPX in Broadcast for SoHo editors.

Hi Kenneth,

I know this post is old but you can actually Edit while ingest in Final cut pro x.
You only need a Decklink card, and then you can capture Video using BlackMagic media express software. Use Apple Proress as video codec. Then inport the video to your timeline and start editing. You can refresh the video by switching to mediaexpress software and the back to FCPX (this is the fastest way i think).
I use decklink ultrastudio mini (thunderbolt) to ingest to my macbook pro 2017 model and i can confirm you that under OSX Mojave and FCPX 10.4.2 you can edit while ingest whithout any special software.
Also i noticed that waveform redraw it is much much faster than before.
