Can I offset SMPTE in browser selection to zero?

Client screened all his clips in Quicktime - so all his edits are based off a 0:00:00:00 start time for hundreds of clips. Is there any way to compensate and read all browser selections to start from zero? Real camera time is obviously wildly different. The only workaround I've found is putting the clip in it's own timeline, making the selection and copying and pasting to the actual timeline. :( Client remembers Avid being able to do this "I guess Final Cut hasn't caught to that yet" he said. I hope I"m wrong and there's a simple way to select with an offset. Thanks in advance.

Well, that's a trick, yeah, there should be an easy way to set TC on a clip to start at zero, but I'm not sure how much demand there is for that.

What I'd do is simply look at the TC the client quotes, then look at the start TC of the clip, and add them together in my head, rounding out. And I'm horrible at doing math in my head, but guesstimating isn't difficult.

Thats possible - definitely couldn't do it in my head either. Can anyone recommend a simple SMPTE calculator for the iPhone or Mac desktop? Less chance of mistakes.

I also tried "Shift +" and an increment, but that only seem to advance the cursor on the timeline, not in the browser unless I"m doing that wrong?
