Plug ins that capture you typing on screen was created by PhilCF
Does anyone know of any plug ins that allow one to produce slick video capturing 3d typing on a computer screen?
I'm not talking about screencast software like ice cream. I'm after a more cinematic / slick look than that.
This effect is used in loads of films where the camera follows text as it's typed and really seems to get more immersed with what's going on on the screen.
I found this one: vimeo.com/36798016 - Does anyone know of anything better / more sexy in FCPX?
Thank you !
Phil

Well, you're talking about a 2D flat source. If you're thinking of similar types of effects seen in feature films, know that those screens are created CGI from scratch, they're not real computer screens.

This is a simple… ok, no beginners task, in Motion. I'm actually in the making of a new free Title plugin, called ks_Musclecars, maybe I publish it today… here a quick'n dirty screen grab:
(done completely in Motion, 'Title' for FCPX)
ok, no computer screen , but the glossy bodywork of a car, but containing 3D perspective (the titles are animated) and DoF (in the Inspector you'll be allowed to set focus-point and 'shallowness', keyframeable)
… sooo, for your case: shouldn't be too tricky, to create the impression of a screen-recording + depth-of-field + 3D… (Motion has a 4-point tracker for that, or you use TrackX for it…)
The tricky part is the mix of 3D and reality - no tracker, not TrackX, tracks the 'focus plane' of a camera - that is exclusive for Hollywood cams which deliver such meta-data for CGI .
What I would do:
use photos (=stills!) for the 'real' part, add the typing in Motion and apply the motion and (fake) DoF in Motion too.…
