Compressor crash on long export from FCP was created by Carsten Orlt
Does anybody experienced crashes in Compressor when sending long projects, e.g. 3 hours, from FCP?
I created a daily projects in FCP with all clips from a day and added the timecode filter to each clip. But every time I send any of those projecst being longer than 1.5 hours to Compressor it crashes. Also tried to export from FCP directly with same result.
It's a 1080p25 project from Sony F55 footage and I convert to H264 540p25.
Cheers Carsten

Have you tried exporting a ProRes from FCPX and importing that into Compressor?
3 hours is a very long file. What's the final delivery format for it?

Final delivery is H264 540p25.
Yes I did send ProRes as well, or at least GoPro optimised clips which are ProRes. Unless FCP reverts to the original files when exporting?

GoPro has nothing to do with the codec you exported as ProRes. Now I'm not sure what you're trying to do. 540p25? Where is that going to be shown?

The files are for in house use and kept at 960x540 to reduce file size. Maybe I wasn't clear on the GoPro bit. Imported Orginal GoPro files (1080), optimised those and then send to compressor with the Tc plugin applied to all clips.

OK, so you shoot in HD, and then save as less than SD?
Anyway, not sure what the issue could be. Let's look at your hardware.
What make/year Mac are you using?
FCPX and Compressor versions?
OS X version?
How much RAM?
Hard drive configuration?

960x540 is not less than SD but just half HD for viewing purposes.
IMac late 2015, 4GB graphic, 32 Gb Ram, OWC raid. So all normal stuff.
Latest version of everything.
I guess it's just something to avoid and I'll break down the dailies reels into smaller chunks.

Stupid dyslexia, I got the numbers backwards, you're sort of correct. Since SD goes up to 704×576, and is also considered anything smaller than HD standards, yes, you're in the SD range. Off by only 256 pixel width, not much to speak of, really. Not the full original HD size for sure.
But, if you "can" save in smaller chunks, that would be easier to find what you're looking for in the future.
BTW, is that a USB 3.0 or T'bolt RAID? RAID 0, 5?
3 hours of non-stop clips is a LOT to dig through in one file, for the future to find something. Unless you create a catalog of what is at what timecode.
I'd suggest in Compressor to go to Preferences, Advanced, and click the Reset Queue button. First, delete all jobs. Second, go back in and Repair Compressor. But according to your symptoms, not sure that would help. Wouldn't hurt to try. I'd give it a shot and see.
