Can you run OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 on that computer or is it lock to run Sierra?

You can’t run an OS earlier than the one the machine has factory installed.

Do you mean originally created or just the fact that the computer was delivered with the most recent OS? I am about to check out one IMAC 5k and a couple of Mac minis and they would all come with Sierra installed.... weren't they all first delivered and created in the EL Capitan era. I hate to upgrade the OS until FCPX needs it, since everything and all my softwares are running perfectly...
