This old topic again
Working on a music video... uploaded a 2K ProRes export... and it looks like crap on YouTube... much worse than the 720p h.264 version I uploaded to Vimeo... Now, the video has lot's of film grain, smoke and other stuff that is difficult, but it was just full of compression blocks and looked really awful...
Is there a way to export it in some format so YouTube don't touch it? (at least at native resolution)
Or any other tips for uploading?

I wish!
But since it's a music video... it has to be on YouTube as it has so much more traffic... (I usually put it on my vimeo as well)

So... YouTube wants .mp4 files... Why does FCPX and Compressor's YouTube preset create .mov files?

Not sure why, but I've never had a problem uploading .mov files.
One thing I have noticed is that a lot more issues seem to pop up with 60/50 fps videos, so if your video is 60/50 fps you could try uploading a 30/25p version.

"Your videos will process faster if you encode into a streamable file format."
Which leads me to think that if you could export an .MP4 with the bitrate etc that YpouTube likes that maybe it wouldn't touch the file other than to create the smaller resolution versions...

Me neither really (more than it sometimes looks rather bad and better on Vimeo)... but YouTube always gives me this message:MarkNelsonMovies wrote: Not sure why, but I've never had a problem uploading .mov files.
