Any tips what is the best physical controller for FCP?

Bought a contour but feels cheap. Have looked at jlcooper mcs3,5 and 6.

Need something a bit better quality sturdy feeling than contour but I also do not hav $2.000 to spend!

Great full for help.

Apple Magic Trackpad, I'll never use anything else.

I sold off my jog wheel mechanisms, never regretted it.

I have this question for a MacBook Pro. I am very new to MBP. I am using the built in trac pad. I find my finger getting sore from clicking. Is there a certain setup I should consider for FCPX use? Would I be better with the magic trac pad or will that hurt portability? Other options out there?

Thanks!

Magic Trackpad or Magic Mouse, either will fit in a laptop bag very easily. Both will relieve the strain of that tiny laptop trackpad. Both have options making them easier and more powerful than the built-in trackpad. My Magic Trackpad goes with me when I take my MBP on the road.

First I tried the smaller Contour but too flimsy. Then I got the larger Contour for $129 and used it for a year very plastically and feels cheap.

Ended up with a MSC3 from JL Cooper used from Ebay for $75 last week.

Extreme quality and works excellent with programmable free software for FCP X and some other apps. Highly recommended both product and company. Always fast answers from their support. High quality stuff.

Anyone have experience with both the Magic Trackpad 1 & 2? Is 2 worth it (may be because of recharge)?

Also, anyone with experience with both the magic trackpad & magic mouse prefer the mouse?

I've used both Magic Trackpad and Mouse, all generations, Trackpad beats out the mouse, latest gen of Trackpad beats out first, IMHO.

Hi Meegwell,

you say your finger's getting sore from clicking. Do you know that in preferences you can allow a "tap" instead of a "click"? That might take some stress of your finger.

P.S. I use my Magic Trackpad with my rMBP when on the road. It's much nicer than the built-in trackpad, packs easily in a laptop case.

Those who use the Magic Trackpad, can you tell me why you prefer it for editing over a mouse?

I just switched from PC and Premiere, and intend to start using FCPX on my new iMac. I got the Trackpad 2, and while I enjoy it for casual use, I find I'm about 20% faster with my mouse when it comes to speed+accuracy.
