Blackmagic Decklink Mini Monitor - FCP X 10.8

Hello. I have quite an old system which it a MAC Pro Intel Xeon G5 which for me does everything I want. I am currently still using FCP 7 but the Preview Output only allows for Firewire Via a Canopus BOX to connect to a large TV screen. This works very well but the only Output setting for firewire if SD 720x576. When I am doing HDV the output does not work very well.

I have installed FCP 10 on another BOOT drive and have noticed that the only external Preview is from a AV device.
Would anyone know if the Blackmagic Decklink Mini Monitor will do this job and if FCP X actually recognises this device?

Sort of. It recognizes the device, but I had some issues (froze occasionally with FCP X, I had to start Resolve - where it worked flawlessly - to make the playback run again). If your graphic card has HDMI, AV out is supported over that. That's much easier.

Hello Axel.. Many thanks for the information. Sadly the Graphics card does not have HDMI OUT and I am not sure if a Card exists for this old G5 with PCIe which has HDMI Out and also has Drivers which would work with OS X 10.7.5 which is the Highest Version that runs on this model.

Just for the record: I'm not sure about 10.8. I can't remember exactly, but I think it must have been a newer version already when I bought BMDMM. Also, I'm quite sure the system font was already Helvetica. Since when was that?
