.MXF XDCAM format files exporting without audio - Help needed!

I just finished editing a short project on FCPX (latest version) which I need to export in .mxf format for broadcasting purposes. Specifically the format I need is 1080i 25p XDCAM HD 422 50mbps. For some reason the .mxf file is coming out without any audio. I have exported a lot of videos in the past (last was around 6 months ago) without any issues at all and I'm following exactly the same procedure- the only change is that I have updated my OS to Sierra. This is really strange and I'm wondering if it's related to some update in fcpx and if anyone else has experienced a similar issue. I tried importing a previously exported .mxf file with audio and exporting again exactly the same file, with the newly exported file resulting without audio. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi, I have received several encounters from my customer who were using FCPX 10.3.X. I have made a workaround that you can try sharing with master file and then select MXF on setting with the setting tab, video codec changed to XDCAMHD 422 50Mbps. The rest of the setting will be default. Please give it a try.

Hi Vella, I have made a FCPX sharing with XDCAMHD 422 ( destination added from compressor ) right after replying your enquiry. I can reproduce the error that you are facing. I would suggest you can try using my suggested methods while waiting apple FCPX team to fix the bugs.

Just confirming that this is a reproducible bug (see forum posts here and here ). It was introduced in the 10.3.3 update of FCPX.

Make sure to file a report to Apple's FCP feedback!

Beware that the workaround Dan Lai gave is not quite correct. As seen in the screenshot, you cannot use the default settings for MXF master file export, UNLESS you want mono output. If the project in the example is in stereo you should change "Roles as:" to "All Dialogue to Stereo". When using this export you need to be very wary of what roles are in the project and how they are set to export.

Yes, i was focusing on the workaround with MXF exporting. As for how the audio channel output you need then you can always set the audio role accordingly.

Thanks to all for your replies. Glad to see that I'm not the only one experiencing this issue, which I reported to apple.

I managed to work around it by exporting as master file and using compressor to generate the .mxf file. I will however also try the method suggested by Dan Lai and see how it goes. Thanks!

after upgrading mac to high sierra, none of my mxf files shows audio in fcp x. I regret totally to upgrade. After struggling a few hours, I finally started Perian in system preference which solved my issue. you ca have a try. good luck!
