Hey!

I have two videofiles I want to make ONE DVD of using compressor... But dragging two files into compressor it seems like it just wants to make two different DVDs... gah!!

Is it possible? How?

To have two separate videos on a DVD you need an authoring tool like iDVD or DVDSP or Toast to get a structure that can access the different videos from a menu. Compressor is not an authoring application.

I was hoping it could just combine the files... gah!

Also: is it possible to save a job in Compressor?
I've added a lot of chapters... as soon as I hit start batch, the job disappears and I can only get it back by Cmd-Z... If I need to redo it I will have to add the chapters again... double-gah!

And now it's stuck "waiting" again... had to already once close it and trash prefs... and redo all chapters... now it looks like I'll have to do it all over again... gah!

Maybe importing the two files into FCPX and exporting one new file for burning to DVD?

Well so, if you just want to put two video files, put them together and then export it with all the chapter stuff for DVD (so mpeg2 and ac3) you could either use FCP X or make it even easier: open iMovie, put those two together (not sure if you can then add the chapters already in iMovie, in FCP X you definitely can) and then export it (can't check right now, but I think in FCPX you can even export as DVD) to a normal file. From there you take it into Compressor and get your final version as DVD playable movie.
Compressor is an encoding software, not editing.

Go to Preferences, General, and un-check "Clear batch in Current tab". When you submit a batch for transcoding, what you set up in the batch will remain, as you want it to.
