Connecting FCPX 10.3 to SMB3 share

Hey.

I connected to an SMB3 share on a Windows 2016 server, where my projects for FCPX are stored. However, when I try to "Locate" a project stored on that share, FCPX gives me an error that says: "Unsupported volume type - Choose a local, SAN, or supported SMB location".

I have no problem what so ever accessing the SMB share through Finder, but for some reason Final Cut Pro wont acknowledge the share as being compatible.

Any ideas on what to do to fix the problem?

Best regards,
Jesper

I have the same issue.

I'm trying use W2k12 or w2k16 with FCPX. FCP shows me the same message, "Unsupported volume type - Choose a local, SAN, or supported SMB location".

But, sometimes, (without actions on my Windows Server) - FCPX just Works and accept save/open projects on my Window's smb share. I really don't understand it.

We've been fiddling with this for a while now, keeping archived projects on a large Synology.

The way we have gotten it to work is to open a library from the top (root?) level of the shared folder. It can be a small library. once that library is open in FCPX, all subsequent libraries then open up fine. Sometimes the library needs to be double clicked with FCPX closed forcing it to open for the smb based library to open. It's weird, but works.

We've had to tinker with some of the advanced settings on the synology related to this doc from apple:

either way this seems to be a good place to start...

Just to add, when I say 'subsequent libraries', I mean libraries which reside within folders on the share. These will not open unless we have first opened the library on the root level of the SMB share.
