Importing from Photos app - Files Copied? We Don't Need That.

Hey guys. Maybe I'm missing something here, but when clicking the little icon in the upper left corner (to show or hide the photos or audio sidebar), and then drilling down to the video I want to Import from a Photos album, dragging them into an event, it Imports just fine into the event...except for the fact it copies all the files from its original location and places them into the Project folder.
I have in FCPX's Import prefs to "leave files in place"...but it appears it's not doing that? I want them to remain in their original location.
Ideas on this?
Thanks so much.

There Photos Library and your FCPX Library are not all that friendly with each other. It has always been that importing form iTunes or Photos (iPhoto, Aperture) makes a full copy in the FCPX Library. It would be nice if it didn't, and the Libraries allowed for in-place sharing between themselves. Fill out the feedback page.

That's too bad. We're even talking Apple apps here...not third-partiers.
So to Import iPhone footage if need be (and not have dupes), then the files have to placed outside of Photos and/or Aperture. Then imported into FCPX.
Thanks for the help as always. Have you filled out the feedback page?

Incorrect, to import from iPhone, plug in your iPhone, open FCPX's Import window, import directly from your iPhone. I keep all my video content in FCPX Libraries, not in a Photos library, which I only put photos in.
