… found that in my in-box lately …
One of my heroes, Larry Jordan, on the subject of 'Stills in Multicam' …
larryjordan.com/articles/fcp-x-create-a-...ter&utm_medium=email
In this excerpt of one of his webinars, Grandmaster Jordan demoes a workflow, I would summarise under
“Why easy when we can do it difficult?”:
First he applies five stills to an MC.
quote LJ: “… but could be 50”…
=> would love to see a 50 tracks MC … on my tiny display.-
Then, he manually arranges the clips into two tracks
=> again, what fun to drag’em each one by one from 50 lanes …
The overlapping/transisition-handle is done manually, I should mention that.
Then, he switches Angles = to edit to next pic. Manually.
Then applies a transition to all edit points …
WHY, Larry???
Why that detour to a MC??
Why arranging 50 or just 5 clips manually?? Why manually arranging the ‘handle zones’??
… Stills in MultiCam. - sounds interesting. But the free excerpt kept me puzzled …
Have I miss the clue? If so - which one?

WHY, Larry???
- Drag 5 (or 50…) stills into Project;
- alt-D to set a general duration;
- cmd-T to apply general transition.

Hey Karsten!
I think that the use of MC for stills would apply mostly to cut-aways, B-roll kind of thing. I watched the Webinar last week and I was wondering about this as well. Not sure if MC would be the ideal way to make a slideshow.
But using the angle editor to cut between still, graphic, whatever is pretty neat. I was also wondering why his two preferred formats for stills was either png or tiff, but not psd.
Best to you, sir.
JL

thanks Jonathan for taking your time to reply…
That came up to my mind after posting it: maybe that 'excerpt' lacks some essential part given in the full version. I read your reply: not so …
I love to use MC, and I'm not shy to claim I know 'a bit' about it - that's why the title caught me. But the method Larry demoes is - imho - completely nonsense, esp. with mentioned '50' slides, and can be accomplished MUCH easier/faster with the 3-steps-process I posted above (which is not my invention, but … 'just the way you do it in FCPX'
hmmm … odd.
… maybe Larry's webinars for Adobe Premiere had confused him? … <just kidding>
He's undisputed one of the Top5 reliable resources on FCPX (and others)!
