12.5 Frames Per Second! :-o was created by DmitriZigany
Hey!
I'm editing a video of a show. It was filmed using 2 GoPros and a DSLR... Unfortunately, they shot in UHD but their memory cards weren't fast enough so it looks like the GoPros have decided to then shoot at 12.5fps! To make matters even worse, the DSLR was shot interlaced (shows up as 25i in FCPX).
Of course, this is a show with a lot of circus acts (Juggling etc), where a higher frame rate would have been much preferable.
Any suggestions for any tricks to make the 12.fps shots look better are very appreciated!
(though I don't think there's anything to do about it)

Well... you could turn on optical flow in the Rate Conform area of the slow clips but I guarantee that at some point it will look ugly. That is unless there really isn't a lot of movement. Or maybe try frame blending in the same area (in the Inspector).
I've always been confused about how FCPX labels some framerates. What's the difference between 25i and 50i? Is 25i basically 25p, just delivered in a 50i shell? But when they say 50i is it 50 different moments in time per second? And how would FCPX know the difference between the two? I've always seen them elsewhere as 60i and 50i as they are usually 50 or 60 different moments in time per second.

Which DSLR did you shoot with? As far as I am aware they only shoot progressive. Certainly my Nikon D810s do.
You can't increase the frame rate of clips with high motion in post I'm afraid. The missing frames won't be successfully invented by optical flow techniques. I'm afraid you are stuck with 12.5fps.
To answer Redifer's question about 50i versus 25i - they are the same. 25 frames per second = 50 fields per second. You can write it either way. It's confusing but 50 frames per second is never interlaced so 50i always means fields.
Ian.
