Syncing music to similar performance as video

In a nutshell I record a song in it's live performance then recreate the parts on video but just using the cameras mic so I have a guide to sync up.

I see final cut has an auto syncing tool but these clips weren't from the same take.

I'd imagine this would be similar to how they record music vids, drummer is playing the similar beat and they just sync it to the music. Though I have seen some pretty shady syncing on music vids

In logic pro I've always tabbed to transient (audio peak for the non-audio incline) on both audio regions then moved both regions to the playhead so they're perfectly synced.

When filming a music video, musicians never really sing or play live, they lip sync. In this case, you'd take the origin audio recording of the live performance, play that back on a boom-box during your subsequent shoots, and have the musicians simply lip sync their performances to it. You're recording that boom-box to your camera, also. Then you can use the Multicam feature in FCPX to sync everything to gather with audio. Or use the Sync Clip feature if you want to only sync one video to one separate audio clip.
