Keyboard Shortcut: Group Clips By? was created by ybr
Hi all,
Does anyone know of a keyboard shortcut that could switch between how the browser groups clips together? I find myself constantly flipping between Group Clips by "Content Created" for most of video clips, and "None" for my music and SFXs because they were all imported on different dates and it's just too messy grouped like this.
I've not come across this but it would be a really handy feature.
Thanks,
Yves

Doing a search in the Command customization window reveals nothing. But you can still do it with one mouse click. Set up your headers in the list view. Right-click any header label to access the drop-down menu to customize what shows. Drag header labels left/right to reorder them. Click a header to sort by that. Content Created is an available header. Then just click the Name header to go back to the default Alphabetical listing. Not perfect, but easy enough.

There is an easy way to do this!
While FCP X's command window does not allow you to add these shortcuts, macOS does.
I have tried it and it works.
Here's how:
-in System Preferences->Keyboard->Shortcuts, select "App Shortcuts"
-click the plus button to add a new shortcut; select Final Cut Pro as the application, enter the exact text of the menu - e.g. "Date Created" (without the quotes), and enter the keyboard shortcut
(be careful not to choose one that is in use - I chose command-option-shift-control-C)
repeat for "None"
You don't even have to quit and restart FCP X.
If you click the relevant menu, you'll see the shortcut is already visible, and it will work, too

Hi guys, thanks for the responses.
FCPX Guru, that works well enough for List view, but not for Filmstrip view. There's also the annoying fact that every time I switch from Filmstrip to List View, all the days collapse, and it's a pain having to open them individually.
Lichinho, that is a brilliant solution! It works like a charm and technically it can be used for any non-assignable shortcuts, brilliant. I've even mapped it to my Kensington Trackball so one mouse click flips between both, genius!
Thanks as always for the support.
