After creating a video from a time lapse sequence in After Effects, the Prores-file was 800mb, but after sharing, using Master file and h.264, it left me with 18mb. Heavily compressed. Quality not so good either. Of course it makes it easier when uploading and streaming, but is there another way to get better quality? Send to compressor? What settings is best shooting 4K?

What are you exporting for? YouTube, projection, computer screen playback, web site?

The FCPX default bit rate for H264 export is pretty high -- roughly double what Youtube recommends. This means it looks pretty good. I suggest you re-try your export from FCPX using these settings. Make sure the viewer is NOT in proxy mode, otherwise the content will be at proxy resolution.
If the original content is 4k, you can only export 4k from a 4k timeline. People sometimes import 4k into a 1080p timeline for better performance then export at 1080p, which will not have all the detail.
After doing this, compare the results to your file exported from FCPX via ProRes and see if there's any visual difference. In many cases I can't see any difference after it's been uploaded to Vimeo or Youtube (which re-encodes the material anyway).
File>Share>Master File
Settings: Computer
Video codec: H.264 Better Quality
Resolution: 1080p or 4k -- your choice if the timeline is 4k

My TV station uploads ProRes 422 to Vimeo and YT all the time, always great reseals. May take longer to upload, but great result. Depends on how much time you have to wait, and your Internet bandwidth.
