FCP footage into premiere was created by Brinky
Hi
Perhaps I should ask this at adobe forums but I give it a try. A client wants to use some footage shot on a fs5 and edited in Fcp X. He is using premiere. I've send him the original footage straight out of the library in the finder. Premiere says missing codec. What to do?

Can you give the specs of the media from the QT player? Is Premiere on Mac or Windows?

Either he's using PPro on Windows, which lacks realistic support for ProRes files, or you copied the alias files.

Nope. Copied the files straight out of the original footage folder. So no optimized progress files. I tried to open one of the files in premiere too on mac. Message missing codec. I can't test anything now cause I'm away from the footage.

OK, there's the problem right there! Y'all are trying to use PPro! Simple fix.
1 - Quick PPro.
2- Launch FCPX.
3- Edit faster and have fun.

Yeah, that's gonna be tricky. I though PPro read ProRes files just fine. What flavor of ProRes? LT, 422, HQ, 4444?

I've tried to convince the client to go fcp. But no. As I wrote no proress files. Original files imported in fcp.

You'll have to convert them to something they can use, then. Ask them what they prefer, and make a Compressor custom preset for that. Make that a custom Destination in FCPX.
