Output/Display calibration LUT? Color Finale?

Output/Display calibration LUT? Color Finale? was created by joe.loria
Hey everyone,
Was thinking of ditching davinci for FCPX as editing/grading suite. However, I use the display LUT feature in resolve to see my colors accurately for grading. How/what would be the best way to use a monitor calibration LUT in FCPX? i.e: lightspace calibration/LUT creation > use the LUT as a layer in Color Finale? Or is there a plugin or FCPX feature I am unaware of?
Thanks in advance

LUT Utility from Color Grading Central, LUTx from Coremelt, there's some out there. Do you mean to apply to a specific broadcast monitor for previewing? That depends on the monitor, not the software. Are you using a computer monitor? FCPX uses ColorSync which is built in to OS X and very efficient. Broadcast monitors require their own external calibration. What monitor are you using?

I'm Working on a budget so I'm trying to make the best of grading on a LG31mu97 which claims 97% P3. I plan on calibrating it using light space and using the LUT in resolve to give me a fairly accurate display. Resolve works great but I would prefer using FCPX exclusively. Thanks for the reply btw.

If it's that important to you, invest in a good broadcast monitor, like FSI.

Would be nice to own an FSI, but again, I'm trying to work with what I have
. If resolve can do it, I'm assuming at this point someone grades in FCPX this way. LUT at the end of the signal chain?

You had various answers in the different forums , most not too encouraging...
"DaVinci resolve" being originally a color grading software can apply Input LUTs, Output LUTs + ( as Autodesk Luster) and Resolve can also apply a UI monitor LUT.
Regular editing NLEs are not as versatile, They can detect and apply a LUT to display camera footage usually for REC 709 viewing but as far as the NLEs output they normally rely on different IO box AJA, Blackmagic for this purpose. These IO boxes can be somewhat be adjusted, but you need a real broadcast monitor and a calibration device for critical calibration, you could as well go old school using the blue check method on "color bars". These IO boxes for mac are usually TB to SDI for broadcast applications.
FinalCutProX is using a "Colorsynch" scheme to match most of the workflow to HDMI but mostly master files deliveries. Sadly in the end, uploading to the web badly re-encodes these files and can often introduces gamma shifts or worst.
For your HDMI to HDMI calibrated monitoring, you should use a calibrating device and an external LUT box to feed your monitor. In 4k that can be expensive. I did find an HD HDMI to HDMI LUT box...but I don't know that brand:
www.lightillusion.com/eecolor_lut_box.html
This could resolve your problematic.
Using LUT plugins in or above the timeline to try control your monitor is not an option and will affect your shots and project , this can lead you to "shooting in the dark" sic
My two cents or less...

LG31mu97
INPUTS/OUTPUTS
HDMI 2
USB 3.0 4
Headphone Out 1
Display Port 1
Mini DisplayPort 1
which computer will this be hooked to ? Which decklink are you thinking of?

Your monitor has few input options and LUT boxes are mostly SDI...
if you go HDMI way I only did find an HD LUT box , did you find a 4K model?
