Anyone know where to learn about infographic videos? was created by dfphoto
Hi group, I'm needing to learn about creating an infographics video for a client.
If you have any suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

A quick web search will provide tons of informative guides to infographic work.

I will ad that clients want more than they need. Visual information systems must be immediately comprehensible for the viewer. Clients tend to put in w-a-y too much stuff and they want lots of inappropriate effects. You can visit your local library and check out books by Edward Tufte.

Hi guys, thanks for the tips, I know clients want too much but in this case, they are a big data division of a school. I need to figure it out, I'm sort of excited but we will see.
Thank you, David

Hi D,
very general question, hm?
General answer(s):
bad news first: there's no plugin available (I'm aware of…), you pour raw data in and FCPX automatically comes up with a shiny, awesome and fun to watch presentation
2nd: the never-ending discussions "Powerpoint is a pest!" (note: it iS!) … in my job I've seen too many bad presentations, random selected keywords: 20 bullet-points in three rows, text of a short-story in 6pt, all 'animations' ppt offers in under 5min. … :S
(in that context, a must-read at presentationzen.com , Jobs vs Gates )
sooo, enough of complaining …
here's some practical advice: you're aware, Photoshop files with layers are imported as 'compounds'? so, you can keyframe individual layer individually.
All you need is some excellent Art-Dept. which translates raw numbers into easy to follow charts …
… which leads to my final [strike]verdict[/strike] conclusion:
FCPX (or Motion) are just tools, at the very end of workflow.

Imagination first!
I very well remember first Kinetic Typography video I saw - wow! … and it doesn't matter, it's done in AE, FinalCut or with a handheld cam and huge white-board … Watch how others do, Mimick what you like best. Put on the watcher's shoes: define the 'message' of that whole beast before grabbing pencil&paper. THEN ask how to accomplish in FCPX/Motion… Please Log in to join the conversation.
