Convert Multicam clip into regular clip?

So often I will work with multicam clips in FCPX but sometime i want to use a mask so i duplicate a section and drag it above the main multicam clip and put the mask on this duplicated clip. Except my masking plug-in (Coremelt's Track X) doesn't work with multicam clips so i was wondering if there was a way after I option drag a portion of my multicam clip can I then "bounce in place" that duplicated clip or essentially can I make that new duplicated multicam clip into a regular clip so i can use the mask on it ?

You can't collapse multicam clips and there is no way that I know of to do a match frame to anything other than the multicam clip itself in the browser, otherwise you could lay the source angle back in. FCP7 has a collapse command - feature request to Apple? The only workaround that I can think of is to export the shot from the timeline that you want to use Slice-X with, reimport and connect it back in.

Anyone else got a better way of doing this?

No, that won't work, I've tested it this morning. The tracking system has to work on a single clip so you would need to apply the effect to one of the angles in the multicam or compound clip. However, you can apply Slice-X masks to a container clip, you just can't track objects.

You put the play head at the place where you want to apply the effect. Double click on multicam, you be exactly at the same place into the multicam. Cut the clip you want to use, copy paste it back on your project
