4K to 1080 and back again

Hi,

So I'm kind of new to using FCP and started a project last night in 1080. I imported a bunch of 4K footage, made clips and exported to 1080 via apple devices. After watching the video I'm now wanting to re-export to 4K. Am I able to start a new project and simple copy all of my clips from FCP into a new 4K project without losing any detail? In other words, once I drop original 4K footage into a 1080 project timeline is it automatically down-rsed to 1080 or only when I export?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, that's the way to do it. You can also in future simply edit in a 4K project and then export to 1080 from there for Apple Devices.
