Can't relink Multicam after move

Hi everyone,

I'm have a problem where I can't get the multicam relinked and I'm out of things to try.

I have an A-Cam, B-Cam, and external audio reorder files synced. I relinked each individual file and confirm they work, but the multicam they are synced within is still showing offline.

I've seen elsewhere that people prefer to move files and libraries through FCPX and not the finder. Not knowing that I moved the library and source files using the finder thinking that relinking would do the trick. Sounds like this is where my issue is happening.

Does anyone have any solutions to get this multicam relinked? Redoing the multicam and edits isn't a possibility due to a time crunch.

Thanks to all.

You should be able to highlight each file while in the Angle Editor (double-click the Multicam clip in the Browser) then go to the File menu and relink them. Does that not work?

I was just about to respond that I'm running into a wall with this one, but I just figured it out.

In case anyone runs into this problem and finds this thread here's how to fix it:

I had an old version of HyColour as an effect on the A-Cam and B-Cam clips and once I toggled that off the clips showed up again.

So, if you've relinked and the vid/audio is showing in the event browser, but not on the timeline toggle your effects off and see if the clip comes back.

Side note: I wish there was a better distinction in FCPX between a clip being offline and an effect being offline. Would have been able to figure this out much sooner and with less heartburn.

Agreed. The Missing Clip and Missing Effect icons are so much alike that hey are easy to confuse. IMO just adding a short description to the icons could make things much more obvious at first glance.

I agree too.
Why not go 1 step further and have a feature that if you hover the curser/pointer over the missing offline alert icon a pop up appears and gives info on missing item. Still a clean interface and FCP already "knows" what item(s) are missing.
Time to head to the feedback feature request page.

Happy Editing, Greg

More distinct icons would certainly be a plus, but FCPX does tell you which effect is missing in the relink panel that appears.
