Ah, exporting a frame, got it.
Watching video that shows a lot of motion looks smoother because, well, it is moving. You don't see just one frame, you see a lot of frames quickly. Motion blur gets processed in your brain differently.
Lots of fast motion will give motion blur to each frame. I'd like to see one of your frame exports, compared to what you're seeing in the FCPX viewer for that frame. FCPX doesn't really degrade a single frame in any manner. A side by side comparison would help.

What Ben says - depends on source, how you recorded it (cam & codec settings), content (motion blur), light situation...
A single frame of a movie in most cases looks 'odd', just hit pause in any Hollywood Action Blockbuster …
As an example, a frame-grab from a recording with a bread-n-butter 500$ consumer camera, lotsa light (school theatre), clever automatic settings (thanx Panasonic
), 1080res, exported from FCPX:
ok, you shouldn't do a Print Magazine Cover with it, but for web-use? I'm fine with it.
Does not depend on FCPX, depends on the photographer

Remember also that a screen grab is only 72dpi, so enlarging it at all isn't a great idea.

dots-per inch is just an advice for a printer, how to pour the absolute number of pixels across the inches on paper. No relevance for 'screen distribution' - a 9" fullHS monitor has the same res as a 110" fullHD Cinema Display, although the smaller monitor has higher dpi.
Enlarging a 192x108/720dpi to the same physical size as a frame-grab does not result in a 'better', but shabbier pic quality; whereas 1920x1080/720dpi would result in a tinier pic. Printed. For screen use, you could save pix with 1dpi or 1000dpi = no difference.
Nothing replaces real physical pixels.... and , indeed, the highly compressed ~2Mega-pixel of fullHD are not that impressive for Print. But lab-printers from Kodak for instance interpolate very well, I enlarged frame-grabs to 60cm/24" mini-posters => no 'dots' visible.

Thanks everyone, my go pro records at max 60fps, so it's not much.
We can't make miracles.
Thanks everyone one more time
