Push transitions on titles effecting primary storyline

Normally I fix the problem of a transition effecting what is below it with with a quick trip to motion. However, I'm having a hard time fixing the push transition. I can fix it for the incoming but not the outgoing for some odd reason when we place it on a title. Regardless, I use to have a free generator that was essentially a slug that would go between the secondary storylines and the primary storyline and keep the transitions from affecting what is below it as well. Can someone point me to this effect or to how to build it in Motion as I have assistant editors who need something simple to get around this problem with the built in FCPX transitions.

Welcome Brad to fop.co :)

'group' the title first, than apply effect/transition

If by group, you mean create a secondary storyline that doesn't work. Also, creating a compound clip doesn't work by adding the transitions to either the outside or the inside of the compound clips as both create unwanted effects. What did work was that I created a blank generator in motion and then called it slug and saved that as a template and used that in FCPX. Adding the slug, which unlike a gap clip or any of the other background clips will allow the transition to only effect what it is applied to. X really should have published a way of turning this off in the inspector as this effect should be easier to remove.
