Hi everyone,

so I have a couple of people I would like to ask some questions, record the interview, and then put it online. I'd like to have 2-3 different screens over 1 still background. A little bit like the linked example here:

My idea was to do the interviews on Skype, and then record my screen. Good idea, or not?

How do I get set up, and what should I do? Just a link to useful tutorials would be much appreciated!

Thank you.

Welcome, Hans, to fcp.co :)

I guess, Larry does explain very well this basic 'effect':

Not the latest advice, but generally spoken … plus, for your case, you have to staple 3 lanes of video …
Hint: use the Inspectors numerical inputs to locate, size and crop each pip exactly.

A client recently did something similar. A host, and two "guests" discussion some chemical refinery machinery that baffled me (southeast Louisiana is littered with chemical and crude oil refineries). We set up a camera on each subject in their office, lav mic, recorded. The two guests were out of state, so they got videographers to shoot them to our specs, and GoogleDrive us the raw clips. They all spoke via Skype and we did a screen recording with ScreenFlow, as a central sync track, so to speak. Because only the Skype screen recording included everyone's voices, although not nearly as clear as a lav mic. Resized and repositioned all the folks similar to what you show. Just like Karsten points out. The thing about working with chemical refinery plants, they have tons of money and don't hesitate to spend it. Although those plants are not a place one would really want to spend more than a short time in. Very yucky, very toxic.
