I have an AIFF file of some narration that I ad in a project. After working on that project I made sure the Event was consolidated. Opening the Library up a couple of days later the narration is gone. The file that's missing has a (fcp1) inserted in the filename, which is weird. I have not used Final Cut Pro 1 since it was launched. Obviously I'm not asking for y'all to find my file, but I'm just wondering why consolidating the Event didn't copy everything it should have to the Library. Is this a bug or does consolidate not work that way? I also made sure everything that needed to be transcoded was transcoded (only an alias of the file still exists in the Original Media folder inside the Library package).

Hi Joe,
When you store media in a library and you have a duplicate filename, it will be appended with (fcp1) to distinguish it from the first instance.
My guess is that the (fcp1) clip was not consolidated because there is a duplicate instance of that clip already in the Library. I would suggest doing a Finder search based on the name of the AIFF file. If you find the original file you can link the missing clip in FCP X to that file.

I swore I consolidated that. It was the first thing on the timeline but not the first thing imported (I had to run it through iZotope). Do I need to highlight items inside the Event when consolidating or can I just highlight the event itself? I just highlighted the Event and selected Consolidate Event.

Nope you just need to highlight the event, like you did.
