how to change back up location for FCPX

hello Together,

I'm working from a Promise raid but realised FCPX does all back up's on my MacPro internal SSD which starts to fill up. How can I assign a different back up location to all libraries and move existing back up's on one of my Drobo's?

Thanks a lot

Steve

Copy the "Final Cut Pro Backup" folder on your system drive to the RAID.
Inside FCPX, select the Library, go to the Inspector, to the Information panel, and Modify the settings. For Backups, select Other and specify the folder in its new location.
Finally, delete the one on your system drive.

Is there a way to set a default location for back-ups? Or does one have to change the location for each library as you create them?

It is a per-Library setting.

That's a bit crap, isn't it? Well it's good that you can change per library, but it would be nice to set a default that is not the internal drive so you don't have to remember to change it for every new library...
I used to have bigger libraries with lots of stuff in them, but after a hard drive crash I'm now in the habit of making more libraries... Ok, end of rant and off to Apple's Feedback page instead ;)

Actually, once you change the storage locations, FCPX will use that new location for all future libraries and projects until you change it again. Existing backups will remain in the old location, so you'll need to follow Ben's advice to move them, but going forward they will all be backed up to your newly changed location.

interestingly I only changed one library but it seems like it applied it to all libraries, when I went to second one it already had the new location set
