Using FCPX Optimized media in Resolve was created by spunkmayer
Hi guys, a little tricky request here.
First of all, sorry for the possible mistakes, as english is not my mother language.
So. I have a video shot with a Sony alpha7 and the material is compressed H.264. I have edited the video in FCPX generating Optimized ProRes media. But I want to color correct the video in resolve, and the performance there is a nightmare because is working with the original compressed files.
Is there a way to roundtrip from FCPX to Resolve via XML, but indicating Resolve to use the optimized media as source clips, instead the original ones?. I have my library externalized.
Thanks people.

You could pre-populate the "media pool" with the transcoded media , then go to edit page and load your fcpxml ...
see if it links OK,
if this does not work,
just load your fcpxml , select all original media auto-loaded in media pool , right click and select "change source folder" and point to transcoded media folder this should work, let us know ...

Well, sometimes the most obvious and easy way is the best: it works perfectly well if I pre-populate the media pool with the transcoded media, and then import the fcpxml.
In order to make it work, the folder has to be externalized, as Resolve can't look into the library for linking the optimized media inside.
I had some issues with the aspect ratio, as the footage was 50p but the sequence was 25p for slo-mo, so I had to go as follows:
1) create a new Resolve project. Very important: definy 25p as project frame ratio first (the default one is 24, and if you don't change it before having footage in the media, you won't be able to change it after).
2) import to media pool the optimezed media footage
3) import fcpxml.
It works perfectly. Thanks for the suggestion!
