Analyze and Fix vs. Auto Enhance Audio was created by EdgarRothermich
Is it possible that these two features are doing the same thing? I tried it with a couple of different Clips and every time they produce the same result, no matter if I use "Analyze and Fix Audio" or "Auto Enhance Audio".
The only difference seems to be that the Analyze and Fix feature is not available for Timeline Clips.

Not exactly, but they are similar. When importing, the analysis corrects severe issues to some degree and flags those problems in the audio inspector where you can then choose "Enhance Audio" to make further adjustments to correct the issues. When applying the analysis to properly recorded audio you would probably find both methods achieve the same result, but with problematic audio the import analysis will create the alert icons in the Enhance section of the audio inspector. Thanks for your responds.
The linked article is exactly what I can't verify. First of all, I never get any red alerts, even if I try to create a test file with hum or extremely distorted signals. I'm not clear what "qualifies" for severe. (that was my question on the other related post)
The article says that when FCPx detects severe red alerts, then it corrects them automatically and with yellow alerts it just flags them and you have to use the Audio Enhancement feature to enable those suggested corrections.
But that is exactly what I'm not seeing. When FCPx detects something, it always flashes it yellow and corrects it. That is the same behavior for Analyze and Fix or Audio Enhancement.
Same behavior on my laptop and iMac.
I didn't find anything related to that on the internet besides discussion of the pretty much the same text from the user guide
