Audio Finishing

Hello There,

I´m working in a theatre in Dortmund, Germany and beside the video work on stage, I´m responsible for our Trailers, Webvideos, etc.
While I´m quite satisfied with the editing, colours, etc. I´m always having issues with the audio part.
And I must say that I´ve neglected audio basics. So now I want to rectify that.
Most of the time it is Music, combined with the on stage recorded speaking (sometimes voice-over) and cinematic sound effects.
Here is an example of a Trailer I made
Die Borderline Prozession
(I´m sorry that it is just in german)

I must admit that til now I just made up the sound with the slogan "works for me" I adjusted the volume and put the compressor preset inside FCPX on the voice parts.
Although I´m working like this for almost five years now, I still feel like a total noob with this audio stuff.
So now I invested in some good audio monitoring hardware and would like to level up.

Do you guys have any good advice for Audio Finishing tutorials in FCPx?
And what Plug-Ins can you prefer?
I´ve kept an eye on izotopes Neutron and have installed the trial version but I must say that I don´t feel competently enough to really decide if that is the right solution for me.

I´m looking forward hearing from you guys.

Greetings

Mario

Hi Mario,

Rippletraining offers a Sound Editing tutorial which I think is great. There you learn not just basics but how you can improve your audio a lot with build in tools and effects.

Fantastic trailer. Very cinematic theatre. Exciting.

@wortloop
Thanks, I will perhaps buy this tutorial. Never really understood why I should mix roles instead of individual clips ...

Great video. I especially like the use of the machine gun as a timed drumroll, ending on the downbeat. Brilliant.
Oder wie sagt man so shön im deutschen - Echt Geil
