Help finding plug in or technique

Help finding plug in or technique was created by ralballer
Hi all,
I am looking for either a plug in or a technique to change a surface (vertical or horizontal) once it's touched. Kind of like the "midas touch". Only I want to make a surface change once a Butterfly touches it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome Raul to fcp.co
… hmm, several options come to mind:
if the wall/surface has a - more or less - solid colour, you can select that for a Colour Mask in the Colour Correction Tab and change it.
or…
use a green wall, … green-screening
or …
mask the butterfly (highly recommended: 3rd party plugin SliceX), and apply changes to wall
or …
practical : on recording change light, or wall is a backlight projection
or …
plain cut: rec scene with wall#1, repeat rec with wall#2 (asks for a professional, trained butterfly which repeats its movements on command
)

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I failed to mention an important part. The surface needs to change progressively, from the point the butterfly touches the surface, gradually increasing the diameter until the whole surface has changed.
The only thing I could find that somewhat would show what I'm talking about is the following video. Look at 0:25, how the phone turns.

Karsten,
Wonder if you might know of contact info for the professional Butterfly, I may need one as well.

ok, early Saturday morning here, excellent time doing 'cooking recipes' ...
have a look:
slammed together in a few minutes, ignore the unwanted tinting around the AC on the right, ignore the cheap animation, ignore imperfections … meant 'basically':
room has a red wall
apply Keyer, sampling red wall as key
adding a Colour Solid in orange
adding butterfly
on contact, applying a Circle Dissolve to Solid, switching bg colour to cyan. Feather dissolve.
… ehm? done.
… basically …
You can improve any part, for sure, but the concept is same same:
replace/adjust colour in some area of your clip, animate colour adjustments.
Here, a very brute workflow done with out-of-the-box tools of FCPX; in Motion, you could add perspective to the dissolve, you could play with compo-modes to keep surfaces' textures, and for sure the Butterly in my example was an amateur, told me, he can do that stunt, naw, … remember the days you got professional butterflies at any corner!!
