Trim to playhead requires deselecting

It feels like a completely unnecessary extra step and I keep bumping into it - especially then the selected clips or edge is somewhere other than the immediately visible part of the project timeline. Does anyone have a remedy for this or at the very least a rationale for why it should be this way? I have provided feedback but I was curious to see if I am alone in feeling this way or not?

Thank you - that is the answer that I was looking for. I didn't realise it was a new issue in 10.3 but that explains why it's only recently driving me insane
"If the edit point is selected you should use Shift+X (Extend edit) and it will to the same thing" - while this is try its not the point. I a referring to clips or edit points that are selected inadvertently - especially those outside the visual range of the of the project timeline.
I should also clarify that I remapped the should cut to '' - it is by default Option [ and Option ] but I prefer it without the modifier.

Shift-X trims the selected edit point to the playhead. PERFECT!
I feel so stupid I didn't remember that... (sigh)

One of the reasons I think the selection behavior changed is that now you can select multiple stacked clips and trim them all to the playhead with the Opt-[ ] shortcuts (or whatever you've assigned) rather than only trimming the targeted clip on top.
A good point, Tom. Although I do hope they make it so when the playhead is over a clip that is not selected other clips are deselected automatically when you use the trim to playhead command. That would seem doable.

My Fix: I mapped Deselect All to CONTROL+RETURN, which is a lot closer to CONTROL+Left and Right Bracket. I still have CMD+Shift+A assigned, but that takes more hand relocation when trimming.

If you're editing with someone, it sort of feels as though you don't know what you're doing and making mistakes when you hear the donk noise!
Is this a bug or will it remain this way in the future too?
I also find the clip height in the timeline not staying at the position you had it for a previous project or when you last used fcpx frustrating too!
But have to say, the updated roles system and the multi-track .mxf export are great features.
