Proxy media

Hi,
I apologize if there are already threads on this subject, but I couldn't find the solution to my question.

I'm working on a large project with 150+ hrs of media and I naturally have the original media on external drives. I also have created proxy files on the same external drives.
Now I would like to move the proxies to a smaller portable drive to edit on the road with my lap top.

Does anyone know if it's possible to copy/move the proxy files when they are stored outside the Library or do I have to delete and regenerate the proxy files to the new location?

(I know you could regenerate the proxy media for a Project/sequence to work in that specifically, but I need to access all the media).

By now, you can't move the proxy media outside the library .FCPX can't. relink the moved proxy media. There is the other way to work with the proxy media, but it's complicated for me.t
