Hi,

I've a corporate film to do where hours and dates of the shooting are really important. SD Cards have been copied on a NAS and when I import the media, the only creation date i find is the date of the copy. Wathever the metadata i select in the inspector i don't find one with the real creation date.
The only thing i can do is to go on the NAS, ask Information of the file and I see in "modified" line the good hour and date.
Is it the same thing for you ?
Do you have an idea to solve this ?

I do not get this with simple copies from an SD card to a hard drive. But, some situations it will happen. Could be your NAS demanding it assign a the copy date as the creation date. Conversion software will do this, because it is writing a brand new file. This is why I tell my camera crews to ALWAYS slate visually what they are shooting, especially date and time. Because the digital creation date metadata can get changed way to easily for my comfort. I don't trust creation dates all that much because they get changed so easily by so many different situation.

Have you tried to read out the metadata of these files?

I'm going to see if there is something to do on the NAS, if it could not invert on the copy, creation and modified date, but i'm not a NAS expert ...

Check www.videotoolshed.com/handcrafted-timecode-tools/qtchange/
there is as well a demo of the software to put the creation date and time in the metainformation and then to import into FCPX. Had as well an issue with that and posted my workflow in this forum.

I'v found a simple solution :

In our workflow, sd card is copied by the assistant from a PC to the NAS (internal SD card reader really speed). If I copy the card from the MacPro to the NAS, Time and Date of the files are the good ones in contrary to the PC.
BUT, if we use DaVinci Resolve Clone Tool on the PC to make the copy on the NAS, the file on the NAS have the same Time date as on the SD Card, so the good one.
It's free, fast and safe.
