10.3 has updated roles handling. I've heard it described as sort of a "buss" model like for audio mixing. I'm trying to get my head around best practices for adding and updating audio effects on multiple clips.
For example, I have a fairly simple edit where the voiceover is consistent enough that I can apply the exact same audio effects to each clip with dialog. I've assigned those clips with the role of "Dialog". I know I can use the Index/audio lanes views to help me select those clips and then make my effects changes. Is there a better way? Can I go the equivalent of a master mix/fx setting to make my effect change which will then propagate to all clips with the same role?
Is the best practice to turn my timeline into a compound clip, then select the appropriate role/subrole and add/adjust effects from there?

The compound clip is the easiest way, and how I prefer to work when using the same effect(s) on multiple clips.
